Causatives

We use the causative “have” when we do not carry out an action ourselves, but give someone the responsibility to do something. Someone do something for us, e.g.
I had my hair cut, it means someone cut my hair.
I had the car fixed - someone fixed my car, I arraigned that to be done.

There are two basic causative structures, one is like an active, and the other is like a passive:
We had the carpenter fix our window. – The carpenter fixed the window, - like an active.
We had the window fixed. – Someone fixed the car, - like a passive.
